Chapter 3 ~ Final Product


Final Build

The final product became a one-dimensional side-scroller game with 3 levels. 

  • The tutorial teaches the player how to play and what are the sounds.
  • The first level simply asks the player to fish.
  • The second level introduced a predator that the player has to avoid while hunting the fish.

Unique Level

While thinking of the second level, I had 2 ideas in mind. 

  • The first was to introduce another hunter whom the player has to race against. The player has to either catch more fish than the other hunter, or the first hunter to catch a certain amount of fish will win. This idea was dropped as it was recommended to me that the player will have a lot more things to focus on. Not only that the player needs to listen to a few new sound cues, but they also have to keep the timer in mind. All these will put a lot of strain on the blind and it does not really fit well with the narrative.
  • The second idea is a modified version of the original two-dimensional version with the introduction of a predator that will hinder the player's progress. It was decided early on that the predator cannot harm the player as the game has no health system till now. As such, the predator's objective is the steal the player's fish should they have one. The predator will spawn randomly with the fish and if the player gets near it, their fish will be taken away by the predator. The predator will have its own sound cues to warn the player.
